This bowl is spalted Beech wood.

Fun Fact! - The piece of wood this was turned from was rescued from my mother in laws firewood pile. The wood was not quite completely dry. The consequences are the bowl warped a little bit once the bowl was completed.

Spalting is a natural process of fungal colonization that causes unique colorations and patterns in wood. It's a form of decay, but the resulting visual effects are highly sought after in woodworking and decorative arts.

Approx. 5-3/4" wide by 2" tall
