The base of the vessel is Black Walnut with a Maple Accent. The lid is Spalted Beech with a Black Walnut accent.
Spalting is a natural process of fungal colonization that causes unique colorations and patterns in wood. It's a form of decay, but the resulting visual effects are highly sought after in woodworking and decorative arts.
