Apple Natural Edge Bowl

This bowl was turned from local Apple wood. The original log was very dry. Dry apple wood is incredibly hard. The dry wood dulls turning tools quickly resulting in needing to sharpen the tools frequently. However, hard wood will yield an excellent finish.

Fun Fact! - Apple trees that are grown for harvest are often heavily pruned to produce the maximum amount of apples. The resulting wood acts like burl wood.

Burl wood is a unique type of wood characterized by its unusual, swirling, and intricately patterned grain, formed from a tree's growth response to stress or injury.

Approx. 5-1/2" wide by 2-3/4" tall
