Cherry Burl Bowl

This bowl is a rare Cherry burl. The bowl features a strong sapwood heartwood delineation. The walls of the bowl were left thick to feature some of the remaining bark inclusions.

Burl wood is a unique type of wood characterized by its unusual, swirling, and intricately patterned grain, formed from a tree's growth response to stress or injury.

Heartwood is the dead, inner wood of a tree trunk, providing structural support, while sapwood is the living, outer wood responsible for transporting water and nutrients. Heartwood is typically darker and denser than sapwood.
